We have done a couple of assessments. We wrote the alphabet in uppercase and lowercase letters, counted and wrote our numbers as high as we could go, took a spelling inventory and did a writing sample. We have been busy!
As most of you probably heard, we made Jitter Juice on Monday to help relax us as we started first grade. Then, we graphed where or not we liked the Jitter Juice - 21 Yes, 0 No's. We don't often do projects with food in our classroom but since it was the first day, we made an exception.
Snacks - PLEASE send your child's snack in a container or baggie with their name on it and DO NOT pack it in their lunch box. The boys and girls place their snack in a Snack Bin when they arrive to school in the morning. It saves us time from fishing through our lunch boxes. I am not allowed to give the students food for snack. If your child does not have a snack I usually let them go through their lunch box for something healthy. If they don't have anything they can eat, they have to wait until lunch.
Supplies - If you didn't send a spiral notebook, please send it in by next week. 70 pages, wide ruled is needed for every child. If you ordered the PTO supplies you are covered.
Red Folders - Your child will start bringing home a RED Folder back and forth to school every day. This folder will be handed at the end of the day with Math homework, Spelling practice, classroom work and special notes. You will notice the two sides, the left is for items you should keep at home. The right side should be returned to school. Homework should stay on the right side. This will help your child stay organized with their work.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me or stop by the classroom. My email is email@example.com.
Thanks you for allowing me to teach your child.
