Today, Lincoln received the National Blue Ribbon School Award. It is the highest honor a school can receive for its academic excellence. Last year, Principal Pam Hype, the teachers and staff at Lincoln worked hard to submit our entry. We were awarded, along with 335 other schools across the United States, this highest honor. As a past parent, community member, and teacher of Lincoln school, I am so proud of what we have achieved. Congratulations Lincoln School! |

I want to go over Spelling List process one more time to make sure everyone understands how spelling lists are assigned.
We take a spelling PRE-TEST every Friday on the next week's words. Students have never seen these words and have not studied these words in advance. If your child receives a 9 or above on the PRE-TEST, they will be placed on the "Alternative List" for the following week. If you child does not get any of the words correct, they will be placed on the "Emerging List" for the following week. No one is pre-assigned to a list and your child can move from list to list each week based on their PRE-TEST. Also, your child will take a spelling POST-TEST on Fridays. We have three levels - Emerging, Regular, and Alternative. The majority of the first grade is on the Regular Spelling List. These tests are given separately during our Reading block. Please click on the below diagram to help you understand the process. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!
Math Homework
Please have your child cut out the 5-group cards and keep them at home in a special homework place. You will be needing these cards for future homework and they are great addition practice for your child. It's Apple Week! HAPPY SEPTEMBER 9TH!
Today my twins, Samantha and Andrew turned 16. In the picture above, they were 6 years old. Little first graders...where did 10 years go? Ten years have been filled with school, homework, sports, piano lessons, family, friends, and vacations. I can look back over the ten years and tell you I wouldn't change a thing. My advice, enjoy every day! The time flies... Attached please find the reading log for September in case you need to print another copy. Have a good evening. |
